How to choose the right cash box?

There are typically two types of materials used for cash boxes available in the market – metal and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene plastic (ABS plastic). Apart from the difference in strength, the primary distinction between the two is that metal banknote boxes are prone to deformation while ABS plastic banknote boxes are not. Furthermore, metal boxes tend to block electronic signals, whereas ABS plastic boxes do not.

1. Strength

The strength of ABS plastic is equal to or greater than that of metal cash boxes. Additionally, when exposed to a certain degree of impact, metal cash boxes may become deformed and unusable under even a small amount of force. As the level of damage increases, the edges of the box may warp, exposing the contents inside. In contrast, ABS plastic cash boxes will not deform or break under the impact of a significant force, and extreme damage is required before they will break.

2, electronic signal interference

Metal boxes interfere with electronic signals, while non-metal materials do not. Now many banks globally are installing handover and management systems that require signal integrity.

3. Fireproof/Waterproof

For small business owners who carry and store cash, the fireproof characteristics of a metal cash box are crucial. Additionally, there are fireproof bags made of silicone-coated fabric that can resist fire up to 1000℃. When selecting a fireproof cash box or bag, it’s important to check the fire protection level, fire-resistant time, and inner temperature when exposed to fire. Polymer banknotes have a higher ignition point than paper ones, with paper notes igniting at 233℃ and polymer notes requiring a sustained temperature of 375℃ to ignite.

To check for waterproofing, ask the supplier about the waterproofing level of the box.
